What About A R350 Grant Increase?
Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants, commonly known as R350 grants, will not be increased in October 2023.
This lack of an increase is attributed to “fiscal constraints,” which prevented the Department of Social Development from requesting an increase from the National Treasury.
SRD Minister Lindiwe Zulu and Deputy Director-General Brenda Sibeko have both called for an increase to the grant. The grant has not yet been officially increased, and it currently stands at R350 per month.
